Monarch Way Station Dedication
In May 2023, the Club proudly hosted a dedication ceremony marking the installation of a Monarch Way Station sign in the Butterfly and Milkweed section of the Ela Library Gardens. This milestone project brought together the Mayor of Lake Zurich, Village Managers, Ela Library Trustees, and club members, underscoring a shared commitment to pollinator conservation and community beautification.
The ceremony marked the club's planting of over 20 different varieties of milkweed plants (which is the only monarch caterpillar plant food) and subsequent placement of the Monarch Way Station sign.
Guests and members were treated to refreshments after the dedication which featured butterfly shaped cookies.

The Monarch Butterfly License Plate is now available – the first Universal License Plate to be issued in Illinois! Proceeds from the plate support the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Roadside Monarch Habitat Fund, which helps foster habitats to support the butterflies during their twice-yearly migratory journey from Mexico to Chicago with a goal to add 150 million new milkweed stems and other nectar resources to the Illinois landscape in the next 15 years. *** Need more information on how to help Save the Monarchs?
