In 2026, the United States will commemorate America250, celebrating the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. The Garden Club of Lake Zurich along with its affiliates: The National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) and The Garden Club of Illinois, Inc. (GCI) encourage the public to participate in this historic observance through meaningful garden projects that reflect patriotism, education, and environmental stewardship.
Everyone is invited to celebrate America250 by creating Red, White, and Blue plantings, commemorative gardens, and public displays that honor our nation’s heritage. These projects align with NGC’s focus on “Plant America”, as well as its ongoing mission of civic development, environmental responsibility, and community beautification, while also supporting GCI’s mission to promote gardening, floral design, conservation, and civic pride throughout Illinois. In addition to color-themed gardens, everyone is encouraged to incorporate native plants, pollinator-friendly landscapes, and sustainable gardening practices, reinforcing both GCI and NGC initiatives related to conservation and education. Projects may be installed in home gardens, public spaces, libraries, municipal grounds, schools, or other community sites. |
